About
Compassionate and funny, Nathan's background teaching tough and downtrodden teenagers shows. He came to serious breathwork with a gasp. Under a torrent of unreasonably cold well water, he got his spontaneous hyperventilation under control; and discovered his body had shifted, automatically, to breathe deeply and slowly instead.
Nathan was in a period of extended mourning; and, taking up a breathwork practice and regularly freezing his buns off, he discovered he would be fortified against falling into what had become a regular sad funk.
In stressful meetings, he was surprised to find his lungs involuntarily returning to the deep-and-slow of his ice-bath breathing.
Born to a rancher father he esteems, also, the most genuine pastor you ever met, and a mother who was an extremely effective teachers of at-risk students, Nathan would grow up slinging hay bales, bossing crews and, eventually, teaching technology to students who had been chewed up and spit out in the regular education system.
He'd later teach at an alternative school and develop a real affection for kids who had likewise been chewed up and spit out; but might have done some of their own chewing and spitting. He's since worked as a University Academic Advisor and an Analyst/Programmer.
In his spare time, Nathan sings, plays percussion in and orchestral and is a facilitator with a Celebrate Recovery addiction-recovery program. He lives on a ranch in the semi-wilds of Eastern Oregon with his father, a white, spotted, water-loving dog of somewhat certain parentage, 8 emus and a pride of barn cats.
