The Language of Breath is taught by a faculty of experts, not a handful of instructors reciting a script. Each one holds credentials earned outside of breathwork entirely, in medicine, research, movement, or clinical practice, and brings that authority into the room. This is what makes the school's standard a standard, not a marketing claim.
Breathwork has no licensing body and no universal standard, which means anyone can claim the title of expert. We think the answer to that problem is transparency, not another certificate. Every instructor listed here has a professional background you can verify independently of us: a doctorate, a clinical license, a therapy practice, a research affiliation, or a career built before breathwork ever entered the picture. Read their bios, then go look at their own work directly.
Jesse founded The Language of Breath after more than fifteen years teaching research and rhetoric at the college level. That academic background shapes how the school operates: claims are sourced, language is calibrated to what the evidence actually supports, and students are taught to think critically about a field that badly needs it. He is the author of A Practical Guide to Breathwork and The Language of Breath (North Atlantic Books), and he continues to write, teach, and publish new material full time.
Ryan is a TEDx speaker, a licensed therapist, and a 500-hour registered yoga instructor who has spent years guiding breath-based practices for stress and trauma recovery. He also serves as a psychedelic-assisted therapy guide, bringing a clinical, trauma-informed lens to every session he leads. His work spans both individual client work and group facilitation across the United States and Mexico.
Katie is the founder of Deep Line Health Company and a Pilates teacher with a specialty in prenatal and postnatal work. In 2018 she created a 90-day sobriety and behavior-change program, work that continues to inform how she coaches clients through hard, sustained change. She brings a body-first, movement-literate perspective to breath training that most facilitators never develop.
Aki holds a Ph.D. in Child Development and works as a neuroscientist and clinical psychologist, with an active research affiliation studying the brain's stress and regulation systems. She is also the founder and CEO of O2 To You LLC. Her teaching bridges the clinical research world and the practice room, grounding breathwork instruction in how the nervous system actually behaves under measurement.
Nicole holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and founded Mobility Athletes, where she has built more than forty additional certifications on top of her clinical training. She created a signature rehabilitation and mindset protocol used with her own clients, and she teaches breathwork the way a clinician does: rooted in anatomy, precise about what a technique is and isn't doing, and always with an eye toward the whole body.
Josh's background is in kinesiology. He works as a personal trainer and massage therapist, which means he came to breathwork already fluent in how the body moves, loads, and recovers. He found breathwork in 2020 and now teaches it alongside strength and movement coaching, treating the breath as another trainable system rather than a separate practice.
Sébastien holds a Ph.D. and has taught conscious breathing and thermotherapy since 2018. He is certified in SomaTraining and ELDOA, two movement disciplines focused on spinal health and structural recovery, and he brings that same precision to how he sequences breath and cold-exposure work with students.
Josh has worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for more than twenty years, treating a wide range of patients and respiratory conditions in a clinical setting. Alongside that career he has practiced bodywork for twenty-five years, with a focus on somatic and subtle-body work, and has practiced breathwork and meditation since the late 1990s. He still considers himself a student first.
Every certification cohort is taught directly by this team. There is no rotating cast of anonymous contractors and no outsourced grading. If that matters to you, take a look at the certification tracks below.
